As we approach the 2018 YTEXAS RēLO AWARDS, I am reminiscent of the first time I attended the gala back in 2015.  Our company, Ottobock, had just moved from Minnesota to Austin and I had seldom engaged in community events as I was focused on getting our new office up and running.  Upon receiving the invitation, I followed up with a few questions and decided to attend – mostly out of curiosity – but I honestly did not know what to expect as I headed from Austin to Dallas.

At the event I was taken aback by the quality of the individual attendees and how approachable everyone seemed to be. YTEXAS CEO members and guests mingled like long-term friends and shared their experiences with those of us that were new to Texas.  During the award presentations, several of the acceptance speeches became quite emotional, surprising when you consider the scale of the event and the business stature of the guests in attendance. An unexpected occurrence, but something that made the event extraordinarily special.

My realization that the event is driven by design came about when I met some fellow German ex-patriots that were seated at my table – a classy touch to an already impressive VIP affair.

Ottobock has since joined YTEXAS and I am a proud member helping welcome and integrate new companies and their CEOs to Texas.  Ottobock has hosted Austin Mayor Adler at our corporate headquarters, we have become a regular participant at SXSW and have worked with the Austin Community College system all due to our affiliation with YTEXAS.

YTEXAS is diligent about maintaining a calendar of meaningful events and gatherings to process issues, exchange ideas and connect with chief executives and local politicians.

I am excited to be attending my third YTEXAS RēLO AWARDS on September 28th and invite you to come and see for yourself what YTEXAS has to offer.
